This painting is the third in a series of studies on barn geese I did. There is a lake that stretches along the edge of the town I grew up in, where I would spend quite a lot of time near. My aunt lived right across from it and I used to spend many of my days walking down there to visit her when I was young. We would go out and feed the geese cracked corn and they would all come gathering around us, knowing exactly who we were. As I was taking this photograph with my 35 mm, I kept rolling over on my back: I was using my 200 mm lens and it appeared to me when looking through my camera, that the geese were about to peck my lens. when I lowered my camera I saw that the geese were much, much farther away than what it seemed through my lens, but when you are thrown out of perspective like that, I must have looked rather funny to anyone who may have been watching me!!!!
